Bali Stadium Rehabilitation List for 2021 FIFA U-20 World Cup

Minister of Public Works and Public Housing of Republic Indonesia, Basuki Hadimuljono with Governor of Bali, I Wayan Koster reviewed the I Wayan Dipta Stadium, on Thursday (6/8/2020).

According to Minister Basuki, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing is currently preparing six stadiums as part of the main venue plan for 2021 FIFA U-20 World Cup. One of them is I Wayan Dipta Stadium in Gianyar Regency which will be rehabilitated by the Ministry. The selection of the stadium in Bali is credited to the persistence of the Governor of Bali, I Wayan Koster to lobby the central government and Football Association of Indonesia.

“Since the match will be held on May, the stadium should be ready by March,” said Basuki.

The rehabilitation includes preparation work, structure rehabilitation, architecture work, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing works, fields work (grass, drainage, watering system, and running circuit), field lighting, bleachers and scoring board.

I Wayan Koster admitted that Bali needs the support from Football Association of Indonesia and everyone involved to make Bali as a tourism destination, in which include sports as one of its charm.

If 2021 FIFA U-20 World Cup can be held in Bali, Koster believes it will be a vital event for tourism in Bali, asides from the fact that it is a prestigious sports event. Meaning, not only it will promote sports, it will contribute major contribution to foreign exchange.
