Involved in Gorilla Tobacco, Two Young Men Were Sentenced to Eight Years


I Kadek Dimas Dwi Mantara (20) and Yogi Tri Saputra (20), Tuesday (8/9) were each sentenced to eight years in prison by a panel of judges led by Ida Ayu Nyoman Adnya Dewi. In addition, there is a fine of 1 billion rupiahs, a subsidy of three months in prison.

In a virtual trial from Denpasar District Court, they were found guilty of controlling narcotics category I, the type of gorilla tobacco. On the verdict of the panel of judges, the two defendants expressed their objections and immediately filed an appeal.

Prosecutor I Nyoman Triarta Kurniawan representing Attorney I Made Gde Bamaxs Wira Wibowo expressed his thoughts on the verdict of the panel of judges. The verdict was lower than the prosecution demanded. The prosecutors had both been charged with ten years in prison and a fine of 1 billion and a further six months in prison. Both were found guilty of committing criminal acts without rights or against the law of controlling narcotics class I in the form of plants, weighing more than 1 kilogram or exceeding 5 trees or in non-plant form weighing five grams.

Dimas and Yogi were charged under Article 114 Paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics in conjunction with the attachment of Minister of Health Regulation No. 5 of 2020 concerning changes in the classification of Narcotics in the Annex to Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.
