Pande Mahayana Adityawarman, as Chairman of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI), confirmed his disapproval of the lockdown proposal on Wednesday (27/01).

According to him, the lockdown was difficult to enforce and required a lot of budgets. He added that economic activity could continue with the implementation of strict health protocols.

“If the public were discipline in implementing health protocols (so that) the PPKM program is successful, consequently the cases of COVID-19 will decline,” he said.

As known, that Bali is currently implementing Restriction of Community Activities (PPKM) season II until February 8, 2021.

As an alternative, Adityawarman suggested that the government provide free PCR swab tests for tourists. He believed this method can bring domestic tourists to visit Bali.

He also responded positively to the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy’s plan (Menparekraf), about having an office in Bali. He hoped that the handling of COVID-19 in Bali will be more effective as to create a master recovery plan for Bali tourism.
